About Jillian Schmidt 

I'm a medical illustrator based in North Carolina, with a passion for helping people understand medicine, science, and their personal health through clear, compelling visuals. I hold a Master of Science in Medical Illustration from Augusta University and am currently pursuing board certification as a Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI).

Originally from Connecticut, I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut, where I discovered that my most fulfilling experiences came from teaching—especially when I could combine education with my love for art. That realization led me to medical illustration, a field where I can support doctors, patients, and students alike by transforming complex scientific concepts into visuals that inform, inspire, and reassure.

I believe in the power of visual storytelling across a variety of media—whether I’m illustrating a surgical procedure, creating patient education materials, or designing content for my anatomy and physiology students at Methodist University.
